3 Days, 24 Teams, 7 Games...1 Champion.  Those are the numbers to remember for the CCM World Invite U15 Jetspeed Division.  It started on Friday with those 24 teams battling for the next 3 days.  The eventual champion would have to play 7 games in that timeframe and that's exactly what the Junior Hurricanes 15U AA National accomplished.

Friday morning started with  the offense flying, scoring 11 goals against the Chicago Blues including hat tricks by both Max Cusick and Josh Smith.  The defense and goaltending was stifling in route to an 11-1 win.  That afternoon was a closer game against the Lake County Vipers.  Another Josh Smith hat trick and solid goaltending once again from Caleb Blatt led to a 4-1 win.  An early Saturday morning matchup against the Naperville Sabres was a tightly played 2-2 game until Naperville scored 3 quick goals in the 2nd to earn the 5-2 victory.  With a 2-1 record, The Junior Hurricanes earned the 2nd seed in their pool and it was on to the playoffs for a Sweet 16 game against the West Dundee Leafs.  Zachary Kodesh netted the game winner in the 3rd to seal a 2-1 victory and a spot in the quarterfinals on Sunday morning. The Orland Park Vikings were up next and Kaleb Johnshon scored what would be the game winner midway through the first period.  This was a shutout for Jack Foy in a 3-0 victory. The Junior Hurricanes were rolling now and a match up against the Carolina Rage wouldn't slow them down.  This time, they earned a 4-0 shutout win en route to the championship game.  In the 3rd and final game of the day, it was a battle of determination and will in a matchup against the Allegheny Badgers.  In the end, the Junior Hurricanes Defense was too good, both Goaltenders were superb and the Offense had too much firepower.  Austin Hryn scored 2, including the game winner, in this 3-0 shutout Championship win. Goalie Jack Foy earned MVP honors after posting 3 consecutive shutouts.

This is the 2nd consecutive Tournament win for the boys, having won the Columbus Day Clash in Pittsburgh in October.  That Championship was fueled by a 6 round semi-final shootout win against the South Pittsburgh Rebellion with solid goaltending by Caleb Blatt, a timely goal by Ben Kramer to keep the Junior Hurricanes in the shootout and the game winner by Aidan Bearman in the 6th round. This was followed up by a strong team effort in the finals to beat the Jr Coyotes 6-2 for the Championship.

Congratulations to all the players as well as Coach Mickey Rhodes and Assistant Rob McMahon for a well earned CCM World Invite Championship!
