Why Wear A Mask?
Can face masks help prevent the spread of the coronavirus that causes COVID-19?
The most recent recommendations related to prevention against the spread of COVID-19 include wearing a mask as an added measure of protection. A study has found that not wearing a face mask dramatically increases a person's chances of being infected by the COVID-19 virus. Wear a mask that protects the wearer's nose and mouth from contact with droplets, splashes and sprays that may contain germs.
The virus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person.
Between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet).
Through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks.
These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs.
COVID-19 may be spread by people who are not showing symptoms.
New research indicates that droplets containing the new coronavirus can travel as far as 18 feet after a person sneezes, coughs, and even speaks.
Wear a mask to protect you, your family and the people around you.
